About Me:
Hannah Brandyburg
Hello! I’m Hannah! I am a second-grade English Language Arts teacher, adjunct English professor, and passionate writing coach dedicated to helping students grow in clarity, confidence, and voice.
I currently teach second-grade ELAR and serve as a team leader at an elementary school in the Houston Area. In addition to my work in elementary education, I am an Adjunct Professor of English at one of the biggest community college systems in Texas, where I teach and mentor college writers at the undergraduate level. Working across both early childhood and higher education gives me a unique perspective on how students develop as writers over time. The right support at any stage can make all the difference.
My Educational Background
I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Houston–Victoria in 2024, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. Before that, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Houston, where I specialized in EC–6 education with STR and ESL credentials. I also hold an Associate of Arts from Lone Star College.
My academic journey reflects my long-standing love for learning and for teaching. I am currently exploring PhD programs in Higher Education Administration, where I hope to continue my mission of improving student success across educational levels.
My Experience as an Educator
Over the years, I have taught students from kindergarten through college, giving me a deep understanding of the writing challenges learners face at every stage:
As a second-grade teacher, I lead my grade-level team and mentor new teachers. I implement reading and writing programs that help young learners build foundational literacy skills.
As an adjunct professor, I design engaging lessons, meet with students one-on-one, and support writers as they develop academic skills they’ll carry throughout their education.
As a former Sylvan tutor, I worked with students from K–12, helping them strengthen reading, writing, and math skills and watching them grow into confident learners.
As a bilingual ELAR teacher, I supported multilingual students as they sharpened their literacy abilities, created assessments, and collaborated with district teams on instructional projects.
Across all these roles, one thing has stayed constant: I love helping students find their voice and succeed in their writing.
Why I Created The Collegiate Writing Lab
I founded The Collegiate Writing Lab to bridge the gap many students experience when moving from one educational level to the next. Whether transitioning from high school to college, navigating undergraduate writing expectations, preparing graduate school applications, or completing major academic projects, students often need individualized support.
I believe that writing is not just an academic skill but a form of empowerment. My mission is to help students become confident thinkers, communicators, and scholars who can share their ideas with clarity and purpose.
